Frequently Asked Questions

1. How do I get started?

Schedule a free consultation to learn more about the process of therapy, have your questions answered and determine if it's a good fit. If it is, we will move forward with scheduling your first intake session and discuss the best cadence for working together. If its not a good fit, that's ok too. I'm happy to offer other referral options that may be a better fit for you.

2. Do you take insurance?

I operate as a private-pay practice. If you are interested in using insurance, I can provide a superbill following full payment of sessions, which you may submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. Please note that reimbursement depends on your individual insurance plan and coverage. I recommend that you call your insurance carrier to verify your out-of-network coverage. Here are some questions you will want to ask:

  • Does my plan over out-of-network providers?

  • What is my out-of-network deducible and have I met it yet?

  • What are the out-of-network reimbursement rates for service codes 90834 and 90838?

3. Do you offer online sessions?

Yes, I offer online sessions (also known as telehealth sessions) for clients in the state of Washington through a secured platform. Clients interested in this option will need access to internet and a private location to ensure confidentiality. While telehealth provides convenient access to care, I encourage in-person sessions for couples and families who have the option to come in person due to the unique dynamics and complexities involved in working with multiple people.

4. How often should I come to therapy?

It depends on your unique needs and goals for therapy. Everyone's healing journey looks a little different. We will work together to develop a cadence and treatment plan that's best for you and continuously monitor progress to ensure your needs are being met.  You also have the right to terminate treatment at any time.

5. Do you work with a supervisor?

Supervision is an essential part of a therapist’s professional journey, ensuring they continue to provide the highest standard of care while maintaining their own growth and well-being.  Currently I am working under the supervision of Lindsey A. Nice (License # LF60391260) who I meet with regularly to review my caseload, discuss my therapeutic approach and receive valuable support.

6. Where are you located?

My office is located off 6th Avenue in Tacoma Washington. It is a quiet, safe space for clients to come and feel at peace. My office is located on the 2nd floor and does require going up a flight of stairs. Accessibility accomdations can be made upon request.

7. How do I book an appointment?

If we agree during the consultation call that it's a good fit, we will discuss scheduling options and get your initial intake appointment scheduled. Subsequent sessions will be scheduled through your client portal which you will gain access to.

8. What if I need to cancel an appointment?

If you need to cancel or reschedule, please let me know at least 24 hours in advance. Same-day cancellations or no-shows will be charged the full session fee since the time was reserved just for you. I get that things can come up unexpectedly, so if there's an emergency or special circumstance, just reach out to me directly, and I'll do my best to work with you.
